Local Hero – S1 E3 – Job Done!

Welcome back to episode 3 of Local Hero, in this blog we will cover the end of season and cover some of the key games in the second half of the season.

Youth Intake

We obviously have to take this intake with a pinch of salt due to the quality of coaching at the club, i won’t go into the individuals but we have a nice range of positions covered, will be interesting to see how they develop over the coming seasons.

Oxford Senior League Premier Division

Can’t argue with that for a second half of a season!! The draw against Kennington is frustrating, but it’s not a loss, so suppose that is a positive lol, but not really a surprise based on the first half of the season.

The best performers for this part of the season for me has been Lucas Burnett and Owen Hickson, Lucas has really contributed with goals and Owen has chipped in with goals but also some excellent performances from the CM (A) role.

Let’s have a closer look at two key games from this half of the season.

Kennington Athletic Vs Cropredy

This is obviously not my favourite game of the season, and really we should have won this but it was one of them days, were the ball would just not go in the back of the net.

Cropredy Vs Eynsham Association

This is more like what you want to see, absolute destruction of a bottom of the league, Lucas Burnett grabbing himself 5 goals!!! And this was last game of the season, so we signed off in style.

CHAMPIONS!!! We have won the league in my first season, now we all knew this was coming but its still nice to get some silverware under my belt early doors, the task is now to try and keep as many players from this squad together for next season.

More positive news coming out of the club after our title win is the club has now turned Semi Pro, this is obviously good for being able to keep hold of players, but our finances are not great and i am unsure we can cope with the added outgoings, we will have to see.

End Of Season Review

So that’s a wrap on our first season and we end it as champions, as i said earlier, i am hoping to keep as many as this squad together as possible for next season, as i believe some of this players are capable of coming up the leagues with us. From a financial point of view as well, we need to rise up as quickly as possible.
