Udinese Underdogs – Season 3 Review

Welcome back guys to Udinese Underdogs, this will be the final blog of this save before we start with FM22. I know everyone is playing FM22 beta but thank you for stopping buy for some old content.

Pre Season

As you can see we were very clever with our money this window actually making a small profit, the most important signings for me personally were Leonardo Sernicola, who came in as a specialist for our new IWB role, i was also excited to bring on Salvatore Espostio, who at 21 was bought in as cover for Walace but has unreal potential.

Pre season results were poor to say the least, lucky win against Ipswich, poor against Hull and Al Hilal but showed some improvement and fight against Leicester. I was hoping results improved as we got into the season and pre season was just everyone settling in.

Coppa Italia

Going into this season, again the Coppa Italia was not a main priority, however i was hoping to get into the first proper this time around. As you can see we did that and a little bit more. The difficulty of the cup really ramps up quick, first round we get past Atalanta then are rewarded with a QF tie against Juve. which we made entertaining but ultimately fell short but overall not a bad showing this season and improvement on last season.

Serie A – July – January

After a brillant opening 2 games the form is very inconsistent through to the end of Jan. The worse games for me in this run were the draw to Crotone and the losses to Verona and Bologna and the hammering we got from Lazio! That was a bad day. The nest results were the 1-0 win versus Roma and the 2-1 win against Torino. So a very mixed bag in the first half of the season, making our goal of taking Udinese to the next level of the game look very unlikely.

Serie A – February – May

Now this is more like it!! barely any red on this screen. Only 3 losses in 4 months is very impressive and very much welcomed! highlights for me are the run of 7 points from 9 against Roma, Milan and Juve in March! and May was just what we needed going into the end of the season!

Serie A Table

We made it into the Euorpa League!! what a result for the club, finishing ahead of both teams from Rome, and the eagle eyed of you will notice that we were only a couple of points away from Champions League! we needed an Atalanta loss against Sassuolo in the final game but alas they won 6-2, so wasn’t to be! But the Europa League is a massive achievement for the club! We have fulfilled our goal of the save in its final season…Phew!.
