Udinese Underdogs – S2 E3 – Tactical Genius?

Hey people, welcome back to the save and episode 3 of season 2, this will be a bit of a bumper blog as we are covering four months rather than the usual three. Lets dive in shall we?

Sampdoria – Well what an absolute disaster this was, we got hammered here, nothing more to say. This game lead me to review my tactics, binning off the gegenpress we was using and reverting back to my season 1 tactic with some slight changes.

Bologna – The ‘new’ tactic got off to a very boring start, both teams struggling to create anything of note.

Crotone – Well well well, this has to be our worse game of the season, very poor and losing to a side that are fighting for their lives in Serie A, i did doubt whether the change of tactic was going to be successful, but maybe the lads just needed a few games to adjust.

Lecce (Coppa Italia) – This is more like it isnt it?! nice solid performance with some lovely football being played!, perhaps this is the result that the boys needed to kick on.

The Tactics

This is the changed tactic from season 1 that i have switched to. If you remember the season 1 tactic you will see a few role changes in there.

Inverted Wing Back – Lets start with the unusual one, yes i am using a IWB, the theory behind this was to try and help Wallace in that hole in front of the back two and attempt to strangle the space for any CAM on the opposing team, the role also surprisingly doesn’t expose our left hand flank as the IWB still covers that area.

Attacking Right Wing Back – This role was to work in tandem with the IF further up the pitch and was an attempt to get more players into the finals third.

Ball Playing Defender/ Box to Box Midfielder – The reason for the change to BPD was to cover off the change to BBM from DLP in central midfield, we now have a creator both deep and further forward with the AP.

These were the three big changes in the tactic but the two wide players have changed to Winger on attack and Inside forward to support and the number 10 to AP.

Torino – Another draw, but a more promising performance, Cristo grabbing himself a goal off the bench and earning himself a slot in the starting line up.

Roma – Hello there! as the tactic arrived? This was a very pleasing performance overall, Deulofeu bagging himself a hattrick and continuing his decent goal scoring form.

Inter – Back down to earth we have come, but Inter are one of the best teams in the league so not too much of a surprise here.

Verona – Now on paper this looks like a game we should be winning by more, but Verona have been the surprise package this season and are in Europa League spots.

A bumper set of fixtures here

Napoli – A loss but a performance i am very pleased with, we competed with a better team throughout the game and some would argue Napoli were a little lucky to win.

Lecce – 1-0 De Paul again, thats it.

Inter (Coppa Italia) – We took Inter to pens!! 3 games ago they had a routine win against us, so i see this as improvement, Cristo with a goal again.

Sassuolo – Thank God!! We have finally beaten our bogey team!! And in some fashion as well, Cristo and De Paul with a brace each.

Cagliari – We left it very late here with goals in the 92nd and 95th minute from Puado and Hernandez, but overall we deserved the win.

Fiorentina – Routine win here, Fiorentina are really struggling this season, Hernandez with another.

Lazio – This game had it all, probably the most entertaining game of ours from a neutral perspective, was proper end to end stuff. OG and a late equaliser for us, boys showed great character to keep plugging away, and i think a draw was fair.

Juventus – I am sure none of you thought that we would win here lol

Milan – I am sure none of you thought that we would win here lol.

In all seriousness’s i never pay much attention when we lose to the big three, we are not any where near this level yet.

Brescia – I put this draw down to a bit of a hangover from the 2 loses in a row.

Benevento – Back to winning ways, Deulofeu back on the scoresheet after a month off. In truth we should be scoring more here, but a win is a win.

Right that’s this bumper blog done, thanks for sticking with it and i hope you enjoyed it, thanks as always for all the RT’s and likes on twitter and i will see you all next time for the finals blog of season 2
